#11: Fashion Project VIdeo

As John D. Rockefeller once said, "A friendship founded on business is better than a business founded on friendship." This last project was one I will never forget! Not only have I made great friends just from pairing up with people who I have never worked with on a project, our video was truthfully amazing! I loved how our video forecast trends and truthfully showed college students having fun and enjoying their Friday. I still cannot believe that the semester has ended, but the main thing that I have learned from being at this school for the past year is that projects and classes may come and go, but the friendships that one makes truthfully lasts a lifetime.

#10: Anything Fashion

Wow! This semester came and went faster than any other semester! As the semester comes to a close, with the addition of projects, tests, stress, and the subtraction of sleep and sanity, fashion has been not a top priority for many people. I have noticed more sweat pants in class, sweat pants, and tennis shoes (and no I was not in my tennis class!) It was a surprising thing to see this past week. Then again, if I did not pick out my outfit the night before slash in the morning when I am laying in bed contemplating the "extra 5 minutes", I may be going to class in similar attire. Nevertheless, there are people who still want to look fashionable and feel confident. When I went to Washington Square Park, there was so many people who were determined to still look fashionable. Fashion is never unattainable!!

During a stressful time, I would definitely say go visit Washington Square Park and just sit in the fountain (the rim of course). You will be surprised how many of your stresses just go away, until you go home!

At the end of the day, all worries, troubles, and stress were gone! Hello new fashion ideas!!!

#9: New Show Formats

Here we go with the bridal posts again! I thought about what a new fashion show could be. After covering so many different types of fashion shows/productions, I had no idea what else there could be. That was until I was bored at 4:30 am (yes on a Friday…some fashion students stay up all night researching trends and bridal wear) and was on YouTube. I call this video a “trunk book.” It is a mix between a trunk show and a look book. My cousin wore an Alfred Angelo dress for her wedding, and ever since, I have been obsessed with his designs! Thanks Lisa for getting me hooked! On another note, have you seen the Disney bridal collection? These dresses are amazing and for someone who will always be a Disney Princess at heart, these put the icing on the cake (sorry for lame pun, but it wasn’t intended…okay so maybe a little). I love the way that designer, Michael Shettel is able to talk about the designs of the dresses and show the intricate designs of how the dress relates to the princess. While viewing this show, I imagined myself in that dress, and yes, kissing the prince that correlates to the Disney Princess. It’s okay if you did too, you don’t have to mention it to anyone!

The Ariel inspired dress. I loved The Little Mermaid! I love the silhouette of this dress and the mermaid cut. My favorite part of this dress was the bottom and how it was gathered in sections. This is my favorite dress of the collection!!

This classic princess dress is from the classic story of Cinderella. The uppermost dress is the Platinum Cinderella dress. I don't know which dress I like better, but the uppermost dress has more bling, which is always better!!
This is a Belle inspired dress from Beauty and the Beast. Belle is my favorite Disney princess. I love this sleeves on this dress and the intricate beading of the bodice.
This is the Jasmine inspired dress from Aladdin. I love the silhouette of this dress and the halter straps of this dress.

This is the Rapunzel inspired dress from the movie Tangled. The bottom reminds me of the lanterns that they released into the sky to celebrate her birthday. This dress also reminds me of her long hair from the one shouldered strap that the dress has.

This is the dress inspired from the movie The Princess and the Frog. I love this dress so much! The one shouldered dress with the gathering and the small detail just made this dress so pretty! I even loved the bottom, and I typically do not like bouffant looking dresses, but on this dress, I absolutely loved it!

I hope everyone could guess that this was the Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs inspired dress. I absolutely love the details on this dress, but I am not in love with the bottom. Quick, can you name all seven dwarfs?

Ah, the last dress in the collection. I hope many of you have figured out what movie this is from! Sleeping Beauty of course! I loved the feathery look from this dress!

So with 9 different princess looks, which one would you want on your special day? Personally, I am so ready to try them all on!

#8: Look Books or Press Kits

It is officially the time again! No, not the holiday time, but the time for weddings! I don't know about all of you, but I know a lot of people in my family who are getting married and having babies! I swear it is the water that they drink! This week I am dedicating my blog entry to those who are about to get married and if they see how dedicated I am to weddings, they may hire me as a wedding planner.

On to weddings!! Who does not love dress shopping? I remember when I was younger and used to dress up  and imagine my wedding. Once prom hit and I tried on oh-so-many dresses (once again, I am SO sorry mom and dad), I could not wait to be in a wedding dress! (On a side note, it really did not help that they had wedding dresses in the next room!) This week I found an amazing site that features wedding dress look books from many different designers and seasons. This was my addiction for a few hours! Out of all of the designers, I fell in love with Augusta Jones' designs! This look book is great for brides to be to check out different designers that they may not get in a store. Check out some of her designs below!

Even though I do not like lace and off-white dresses, I love these two dresses.

I love the dress to the right. It reminds me of my prom dress! Inspiration: Beauty and the Beast!

These two dresses are my favorite! They are so modern-looking and once of these could be my dress in the future!

I LOVE trains on dresses! Both of these dresses are amazing! I really need to get a job in acting so I can be a bride!

How would you not want to be walking in one of these dresses?

These two dresses, when I scrolled past them, I did not like. However, when I went back and really looked at them, I really liked them!

The one thing that I learned is that I really need to work at a bridal boutique or back in my boutique at home to help with the brides!

# 7: Trunk Show

I work in a boutique back home (in the tiny state of Connecticut) and now is just about the time that June brides start to really get things ready for their wedding! As stated before, I am obsessed with weddings and everything included with them. I am sort of nervous (as my family must be too) that I will be a bridezilla. All I can say to that, is well, if the show fits...wear it! In reality though, to my family, no worries...I promise I won't be one of those brides!

Loreal Melbourne Fashion Festival 2011 was shown on March 19th, 2011. It showcased some designers like Luci Dibella, Lisa Ho, Charlie Brown, Judith Valente, and Baccini & Hill. The reason why I love this trunk show is because it  not only features amazing dresses that I have officially envisioned myself in for my wedding, but the photographs from the show were perfect to showcase these dresses. I feel that when I  get to that time to be planning my wedding, I am going to really start looking at different trunk shows to plan my wedding.
How early is too early to plan for a wedding? This is going to be something to buy in the future...a girl can never be too early to plan!

Don't forget the silver sixpence for your shoe!! (Oh! Don't think I don't know them all!)

#6: Video Fashion Show

Who does not love an Alexander McQueen runway show?

Even though this is a bit older, Alexander McQueen's Spring/Summer 2005 show really blew my mind. This was the show that really made me believe that fashion can be put anywhere you want it to. Alexander McQueen was a highly intelligent man who knew fashion. His fashion shows were not the typical ones, but he inspired so many other designers to step outside of the box and present a fashion show like no other one.

How about TWO Alexander McQueen runway shows?

This fashion show was one that really did change the world of fashion. Alexander McQueen's Fall/Winter 2006 hologram of Kate Moss was so inspiring. I was excited for the time I would be able to get to see a fashion show that included a hologram. I was very happy that this was done before Alexander McQueen passed away. Only McQueen would be able to make this happen with such grace and poise. Even though Kate Moss is seen as a controversial figure with her being known with an eating disorder, this fashion show put her in a new light that many needed to see of her.
Once lost, but never forgotten! Long live McQueen!
Even in the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens...McQueen will always be there!

#5: Fall 2012 Color Trend

With the changing of the leaves, pretty greens are turning into reds, oranges and yellows. Ah, fall has arrived! As you can tell, I love the color red as a popping color. Red, especially Burgundy and Zinfandel, is the color people should be looking to buy for the fall 2012 season. Personally, up until last year, I have not been able to pull off red. The best part about red in fall is it leads right into winter. Lets be real...who does not love a color that can work for multiple seasons? I know I do! Be fierce...go red!!!
Who doesn't love a good red or orange to pop up your wardrobe?

Isn't this a pretty site? Who would not want to have an outfit inspired by this?
Any pop of red makes a statement!

#4: Fashion Trend from NY Street

It is officially the first day of October. People officially feel that Fall is here. Changing weather, changing leaves, and for some people changing attitudes are what bring them into the new season. Of course, the first day of October brought rain. However, even rain did not stop smiles and laughter on people's faces. Well, the ones who had umbrellas and jackets at least. My favorite trend for fall is having the ability to layer with a jacket. The best part about it is if you are too hot, you take the jacket off and when you get cold, you put it right back on. All types of jackets were seen out this afternoon. From jean jackets, rain jackets, or my favorite, the classic leather jacket. A leather jacket just can make any outfit seem so fierce.

Right off of 30th and 9th I ran into this woman who had an amazing metallic gold leather jacket on. I was in love with this jacket (and would love to be able to find it...there must be an app for that!)

I was able to catch this student on the run from the rain. Her jacket looked like a great classic leather jacket. She completed her look with an equally amazing leather purse.

I was actually able to catch this musician while crossing the street. His jacket accompanied with his outfit and accessories reminded me of a musician. Every type of person should have a leather jacket.

I was able to catch this woman while she was running from the rain. I loved how her jacket had a hood and  it seemed to keep her dry. Multi-use jacket? (I really am starting to look into an app to find where people got their clothing from!)

So many people are happy in the rain. I found this couple walking by Penn Station. Her jacket seemed to be keeping her dry and her husband enjoyed being protected by his umbrella. Can you say singing and dancing in the rain? I wish all people were like this!

I found this couple waiting for a taxi by Penn Station...both with a leather jacket. No matter the occasion, the season, or the weather, a leather jacket is a great piece to have to go along with any outfit.

Oh! One last picture. I believe that every blogger should be showcasing their trend on themselves. So, after walking in the rain and showing my favorite trend, I finished my route in my kitchen and using the timer on my camera, showed that everyone needs deserves a nice leather jacket. (I hope the open umbrella indoors's rule still doesn't make me have seven years of bad luck!!) So through rain and clouds, walk to your own beat and sing your own tune and you will surely find the sun!

#3: NY Times Blog

I normally would jump on a chance to write about Bill Cunningham at any means possible. However, I am a positive person and as soon as I saw that there was a "thinking positive" article by Cathy Horyn, I wanted to report on that. The title of this article was "Jil Sander: Thinking Positive." It was Raf Simon's fashion to the Jil Sander's runway.

Trend: classic, pampering, marriage
Silhouette: t-shirt, "lean and graceful"
Design: paisley print
Detail: deep vent in skirts, squared off openings, buttons off the side
Color: White, neon colors, navy, dark green, rose
Fabric: Cotton, synthetics, leather
Jargon: sexy, minimalist, pure, comfort, street wear, erotic, modernism

"Mr. Simons said his goal was to make clothes that were not only new and different but could also be imagined in the street. He achieved that."

I am so sorry Bill, but I had to go a different route!! Still love you though!!
Never thought about really reading through all of her posts...it SO changed my mind! I mean, we DO share the same last name (her with a y), so it only made sense!

#2: 1 Key Item for Fall 2012

It is coming time for Fall again. I'm originally from Connecticut and to us that means tourist come to watch leaves turn colors and once they turn brown, we are raking them up. It is not my favorite season at all! However, with fall comes layers and cute fall jackets. What is better to walk down the streets of New York City with than a trench coat? One obvious key item for Fall 2012 is going to be the infamous trench coat. Who else is excited for this Fall piece?
This sketch of the Fall 2012 trench coat from Style Sight.

A Black trench puts a change on the appearance. Who else does trench coats better than Burberry?!?!
Now I don't know about you, but I am starting to put my extra change from the bottom of my purse in a jar getting ready for my trench! (On a side note, funny pun: Rainy Day Savings for a Rainy Day!)

#1 Blogs from the Web

Last year in my Career Planning class, a girl always talked about how she obsessed about a blog that she literally checked everyday. That night, I went to the computer and started to see why she obsessed about this blog. It was the name, the classic style, and the love for cheetah print. Cheetah is the new Black  Personally, I like the occasional animal print, but only is doses. After looking at this blog last semester, I too enjoyed was very obsessed with always checking what she had that was new. Fashion=Obsession

Every fashion post makes me want to go shopping!

Always in something cheetah.

Even the cocktail glasses napkins were cheetah. Considering I am slightly overly obsessed with weddings, this was all too perfect!

Why have something blue when you can have animal?? Break from traditional and go with modern times! (Like I said before, I really do love weddings!)
